I set up a daily Claude scheduled task to scan tech news and write content ideas straight into my Airtable base, so I'd stop spending twenty minutes every morning assembling the same context by hand. It works, but after a few weeks of runs, one pattern became hard to ignore: the same task behaves differently depending on what time of day it fires.
Claude Code is still where I trust my actual code the most, but Codex's limits don't run out, which makes it the better tool for one specific job: turning a feature description into a development plan before I touch the editor.
OpenAI banned my account twice, no explanation given, and took down two production bots with it. The fix wasn't switching providers, it was routing requests through OpenRouter with an explicit fallback chain so no single company's decision can take the whole system offline again.
I now have a clear picture of how to use it properly, and where it genuinely loses to Claude Code. That is what this article is about. About 10 years of Experience
